Mr. Smits was born in 1943 and has Dutch nationality. Mr. Smits has been a active in the Board of various companies. He was a member of the Supervisory Board and Executive Board of Macintosh Retail Group N.V. and of the Executive Board of Wilma International N.V. He was also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ballast Nedam N.V., CZ Group and Faber Halbertsma Group and a member of the Supervisory Board of Vebego Holding B.V., Maas International B.V. and Sofinim N.V.
